As the thread title states, ever since this new forum board has surfaced, every time you click 'Show unread posts since last visit.' your given page after page of useless shit, shows the newb forums are more active than ever but for the old roaders, its pretty fucking annoying. :o

Nah that kind of spam is gonna be phased out and not allowed soon, it's temporary and only being allowed so the crybabies dont shit their pants because it was a policy changed that wasnt announced and giving the ones that are actually being held back like new vendors a chance to get up out of the section. So it will be required to make topic based posts to acqyuire your 50 posts.

I think the 50 post limit for new members is a good way to weed out a lot of spam and bullshit. However, I'm not understanding why members that have over 50 posts are prevented from posting in the forum. That's the only part I don't get. Not all new registrants are spammers, and some of them have legitimate questions that would have to be answered by someone who isn't also a new member.

Apparently, only the Mod's can post there to eliminate or prevent mis-informatiion being given to new members so they can start out on their SR journey armed with the correct information.

But I agree with him, if we can't post there.. at least filter out the section for us!
Just like we can't see the vendor section either, shouldn't be too hard right?
When I look for a new topic all I see are newbie discussion section threads :-\

Yeah, I actually decided to make an account named Moon Fried Jr. to post in the newbie discussion board cuz I always feel bad when a newbie asks a question that I can easily answer yet gets no response for an extended amount of time. Shouldn't be like that, but I won't complain.
Sadly I didn't end up remembering or writing down the password for the account. =/

There are so many better ways to limit the spamming than this. It has created more spam and made it almost impossible for new members to have questions answered.
It took me 40 minutes to bypass the 50 post limit with a new account. This is the number they should be trying to control. Time it takes to get a real account. Not how many posts.
Don't encourage spam. Encourage real, thoughtful posts over a longer period of time. Implement forced delays and forced waiting.

Yeah limit posting to 1 per minute or something, hell even 2 minutes is still fine with me.

There is a lot of misguided information regarding how to get BTC online and other such things. There needs to be more information over there on how to correctly use the forum and how to safely do it, no one seems to give a shit what they're doing other than getting to 50 posts as soon as possible. I'll admit i rushed a bit as it annoyed me that i could no longer post in other forums and have decent conversations with people as i had to get to 50 pc. But yeah i'll admit it has just replaced one type of spam with another.
And you know you'll end up seeing people with 50+ post count asking basic questions in all the other sub forums.

knomo is right. There's not much reason for needing to post more than once or twice a minute on this board. It's not your average bicker and bitch board. Post here are supposed to be more useful and have more substance to them.
The newbie forum has no substance, even though I want under 50 post when that rule came into effect I had no problem posting moderately and with purpose unlike some of the fuck tards running around in there.

I would LOVE to unsubscribe from some threads!
I will put it in DPRs radar and see if this is doable, I really hope it's a feature that can be activated on SMF 2.0.3

In the meantime, it would enable everyone to sort of fix this on their own setup if the current threads in the newbie sub-board were locked. No new replies mean we'd only have to check the offending threads once, and then we'd never see them again.
I realize that might be a pain in the ass. On the other hand, 90% of those forums have zero informational value, whatsoever.
